Mist Eliminators
High-Efficiency Vapour Flow Separation
In many process operations, the removal of entrained material in vapour flows is essential to ensure product purity, process efficiency, and equipment protection. Knitwire mist eliminators are designed to provide high droplet removal efficiency with minimal pressure drop, suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. Our units are based on a design that maximises contact between entrained droplets and the knitted mesh obstacles while maintaining extremely high free volumes to minimise energy loss.

Key Features
- High Free Volume: Knitted mesh units with interlocking asymmetrical loops achieve 98–99% free volume, allowing minimal pressure drop across the system.
- High Removal Efficiency: Careful selection of wire diameter, mesh density, and area ensures 99%+ removal of entrained droplets under normal operating conditions.
- Flexible Design: Mesh units can be optimised for operating temperature, pressure, and vapour velocity to suit your process requirements.
- Material Options: Stainless steel, plastic or glass fibre variants for chemical resistance or high-temperature applications.
Material and Design Options
- Stainless Steel Mist Eliminators: Ideal for high-temperature applications. Wire diameters range from 0.1–0.3 mm, arranged in asymmetrical interlocking loops.
- Plastic Mist Eliminators: ETFE, Polypropylene, PVDF, or PFA, in both monofilament and multifilament options. ETFE units withstand temperatures up to 260°C and are suitable for highly corrosive environments such as fertiliser production or sulphuric acid handling.
- Fibreglass Pads: Lightweight and inexpensive, ideal for coalescing applications.
- Customisation: Units can be manufactured in a wide range of sizes, mesh densities, and wire diameters to suit specific process parameters.

Comparison: Knitted Wire vs Other Mist Eliminators
- Woven or Perforated Plates: Simple and rigid, but lower removal efficiency and higher pressure drop.
- Knitted Wire Mist Eliminators (Knitwire): Combine high droplet removal efficiency, high free volume, low pressure drop, and material flexibility, suitable for both corrosive and high-temperature environments.
